“Magnets attract opportunities..It is a much better situation when people chase you than you chase them. ”

Anthony shared a powerful idea in this letter to his kids (this book is a collection of letters he wrote to them): instead of chasing after the things we want, we should become the kind of person who naturally attracts them.

Early in his career, Anthony struggled to connect with top entrepreneurs. Cold emails went unanswered, introductions were few, and opportunities felt out of reach. But rather than pushing harder, he changed his approach; he began creating. He shared content online: ideas, lessons, notes from books, and reflections on the industry. He engaged thoughtfully with his readers, sparking conversations and building a reputation for himself. Over time, the dynamic shifted. He had become a magnet, pulling in opportunities by making his ideas visible, his curiosity known, and his value apparent.

What makes Anthony’s story so compelling is its quiet truth: Most people don’t know who you are, what you do, or what kind of value you could bring them until you show them.

This principle applies to our lives, careers, and passions.

The first step is to figure out what you want. The second, which is also very important, is to ask: What could I create, share, or build to draw that thing or those people toward me?

If you want a particular job, build something visible in that field. Write, design, speak, explore, and make your thinking easy to find. If you're a scientist like me, you might share your perspective on a breakthrough technology, highlight an underappreciated method or technology, or suggest solutions to a recurring challenge in your discipline.

Whatever your path, remember: the world is loud, but magnets don’t shout. They attract quietly through the clarity, consistency, and value you offer.
